Newly Acquired Apps @ SCH

Over the summer several departments were researching and exploring some new services thanks in part to their experience in the GOA professional development program. As a result, SCH is happy to offer access to a few new tools which may help facilitate learning both in, out, and wherever the classroom may be.

EdPuzzle- Click the link to get started (see 2nd page for sign up instructions).

Description of EdPuzzle; is an easy-to-use platform allowing you to engage every student, one video at a time. ... Videos are a powerful resource, but it can be difficult to hold students accountable for something you can't track. That's why we created Edpuzzle - we were once teachers with this same problem.

PearDeck- If you're a teacher, you should have received an email confirming your account for this with included instructions for signing up, if not please reach out to tech@sch.org.

Description of PearDeck; Imagine if you could engage every student in your class, every day. What if you could instantly see who’s confused and who’s ready for more? That’s the power of Pear Deck. And now, with the Pear Deck for Google Slides Add-on, you can add the magic of formative assessments and interactive questions to your presentations right from Google Slides.

Loom- Anyone with an SCH account who signs up on their website is automatically converted to a PRO level account. A video of how to install this great screen recorder here.

Description of Loom; With Loom, you can capture your screen, voice, and face and instantly share your video in less time than it would take to type an email.

Padlet- 1) Visit https://schacademy.padlet.org/auth/login and sign in with Google. This gets you into the SCH Padlet account and unlimited padlet creation! Visiting Padlet.com and signing in there does work, but it is a limited account and not an SCH one, therefore it is limited to 3 and other features disabled, so please use the link above! Merging a previous Padlet account and a new SCH one is being explored, but not available currently.

Description of Padlet; Padlet is an online virtual “bulletin” board, where students and teachers can collaborate, reflect, share links and pictures, in a secure location. Padlet allows users to create a hidden wall with a custom URL. Padlet creators can also moderate posts, remove posts, and manage their board 24/7.

Some great free to use tools also being utilized, which require a sign up include;

Flipgrid: Sign up using your SCH account via the blue button which says educator signup on the top right of the screen.

Description of Flipgrid; Flipgrid is a simple, free, and accessible video discussion experience for PreK to PhD educators, learners and families. Create a Topic and engage your community...together!

Hypothes.is: Sign up using your SCH email address here, requires an extension which can be installed here.

Description of Hypothes.is; Annotate the web, with anyone, anywhere. We’re on a mission to bring an open conversation over the whole web. Use Hypothesis right now to hold discussions, read socially, organize your research, and take personal notes.
