In this article I will show you some necessary setup steps and some best practices if you have a 30" Dell Display

Setup:

Placement: I’ve placed the display in a place I felt worked best on your desk space and was best positioned for power. Feel free to reposition as you need. The stand is adjustable for height easily by pushing the display up or down. It Also rotates on its stand.

Connection: These monitors use a single USB-C cable to connect them for video. This cable also charges your computer, freeing up your charger for other uses, and freeing up an extra USB-C port!

If you are using an older Macbook Air or have to use one of our loaners a MDP to HDMI Cable is available upon request for connection.

Arrangement: Decide how you’d like to use your monitor. There are two main ways:

  •      Mirrored: Both displays show the same image and you can use your laptop as a keyboard/trackpad for the larger monitor.

  •     Extended: Use your monitor as a second display and move windows between both. Some important setup steps should be followed.

To Set Up Extended Mode:

  1. Click the Apple Logo at the top left and click System Preferences

  2. Click “Displays” in the System Preferences Pane.

  3. Decide which display you’d like to be your “Main Display”. This will be where launched apps start, where your dock is, and where desktop items will be.

  4. Right click/Click with two fingers on the display you want to change and select Main or Extended.

  5. Click and drag the smaller “Built-In” Display around the larger one to its approximate place on your physical workspace/desk. You may need to change this in the future if you move your laptop around.

To Set Up Mirrored:

  1. Click the Apple Logo at the top left and click System Preferences

  2. Click “Displays” in the System Preferences Pane.

  3. Right click/click with two fingers on the display you wish to mirror and select “Mirror for Built-In…”

Adjust Text Size/Resolution

You may find the text is too small with the default settings. This can be adjusted by adjusting the scale.

  1. In System Preferences > Displays click “Display Settings…” at the bottom left.

  2. Select “DELL U3219Q” from the left.

  3. Click the dot for “Scaled”

  4. From here you can select one of five scaled resolutions to your personal preference.

Pro Tip!

To move windows between monitors click and hold on the green button at the top left of your window.

You can select the monitor you want to move it to.

Cleaning:

Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe dust from the screen.

If additional cleaning of the display panel or case is required, use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don't use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, ammonia, abrasives, or cleaners containing hydrogen peroxide to clean the display.
